Cafe Provence

Robert Barral is the owner and head chef of Cafe Provence. Originally from France, Robert relocated to the Green Mountains when he was offered a position at the New England Culinary Institute as their Executive Chef. His Restaurant, Cafe Provence, grew out of his love for cooking and his love of teaching. This restaurant serves delicious gourmet meals and mouth watering desserts prepared with classic French techniques. 

Menu

The entrees served at Cafe Provence are some of the most popular items on the menu. Below you'll find a selection of entree items. But be aware that the menu changes based on the time of day and the season. Robert is dedicated to only using the freshest ingredients, local when possible.

Scallops, shrimp, mussels & available fresh fish on saffron risotto, lobster & tarragon broth, & garlic toast

Confit of duck leg, pan seared duck breast, & grilled andouille sausage

Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Horseradish Mashed Potatoes

The Cafe Provence Grass-Fed Beef Burger from Spotted Dog Family Farm
Petite salad & French fries. Cheese: Swiss, gorgonzola or Vermont cheddar. Add mushrooms, bacon, tobacco onions or caramelized onions

Cooking Classes


Robert has a passion for teaching, and loves offering cooking classes at Cafe Provence where he shares how to make many of the items on his restaurant's menu. Students can be as hands-on as they'd like, but either way, they'll go home with the knowledge necessary to replicate some show-stopping dishes. You can also give the gift of cooking classes to someone you love, if you yourself aren't as inclined.

Bakery

Chef Robert is a master of all types of cooking, including baking. He prepares rich, decadent desserts such as flourless chocolate cake, triple chocolate terrine and lemon squares. He and his team also make beautiful decorated cooking, wedding cakes, and lots of other treats that are tasty and delicious.
